With another long mideeek day looming Luke, Alan, Andrew and myself (Danny) decided to partake in a full english at the local greasy spoon.
After breakfast we headed to the Hope Inn where we met some of the White Rose branch having light refeshments (you know.....coffee.....what?)
Set off time to head down south was 11.30am. We picked up at the usual spots on the way. Hilton Hotel in Leeds and the Junction 37 on the M1.
Its a brilliant turn out on the coach for such a long away day. 46 out of 49 considering you have to take 2 days off work is a brilliant effort.
The usual banter is flying arouud the coach, and the usual suspects are involved..... not mentioning any names!
We arrive at our pub stop in Harrow, The Moon On The Hill, and proceed to pretty much take over the pub.
Woth 3 Jesus lookalikes inside and a few of the local alcoholics I think we fitted in pretty well!
Pub stop finished we head to Craven Cottage, which coincides with my first visit to the place.
Slight team change for the game with Byram coming in for Morrison which I thought was a good move by Redfearn. I like Morrison dont get me wrong, but Byram was playing out of his skin before his injury and i think he is the only right sided player we have at the club.
The game kicks off and to be fair for about 35 mins i thought Fulham (well Smith and Mccormack) caused us a few problems at the back. And if they were better players could of had a couple of goals.
Then with great work and battling qualities shown at the right hand side of Fulhams box we win the ball back. A cross to the centre and Byram climbs highest to head home.... 1-0 Leeds
The fans are going nuts in what i can only describe the stand we are in as half arsedly built. It shakes with every movement but who cared. We are winning.
Half time comes and goes and the we take the game to Fulham. There left back has a moment of craziness by shouting at the limesman (which he got booked for) and then kicking Byram nearly into the stands straight away afterwards (which he was shown the 2nd yellow card for)
Happy Days!
I cant remember of it was a corner or free kick (pretty sure it was a corner) which got whipped in only for our Coach Driver Sol Bamba to leap like a sammon at the back post and give us a 2-0 lead. Absolute Scenes in the away end and things are looking rosey.
Then Mccormack decides he cant continue playing as he was "injured".....personally i dont Fulham are the team he fell in love with.....so he is subbed and walks round the pitch infront of the Leeds fans.
I think he was expecting a good reception....then the chant of "der der der dadadadada der der dadadadada der der dadadada GREEDY BASTARD" rang around the away end.
My thoughts on Mccormack are this. I will be forever greatful for his goals last season. Without him we would be League 1 fodder now. But 11 million for a player who has had 1 prolific season in his career is a ridiculous amount of money.
We make a few subs with Morrison and Antenucci coming on for Mowatt and Sharp (I think??)
And just before added time is put up Antenucci miss hits a shot which bounces into the goal! 3-0 and life is brilliant!
The game ends and we make the long trip back to our coach. Everyone is happy.
But we seem to be missing someone.... 45 mins later after all the coachs have left we finally find our Norweigian traveller who thinks he is Bear Grills and decided to survive in a park in london for some reason instead of heading back to the coach.
We have bought Kjell an extendable dog lead now so he cant go walkies and not find his way back!
We arrive back home at 3.30am and i remember i had to be up for work at 7. not happy. But hey ho. 3 points in the bag and im home safe!
See you all at Blackpool
