With an early kick off looming and the ridiculously eager Police to search coaches for alcohol prior to any game in the north we decided it would be a good idea to just stay in Leeds for our pub stop.
So the coach went down to pick up the usual lot from Barnsley, Monkey, Mrs Monkey, Viv (without the boy genius) and the Brannans (Paul, Ben and Jack)
On thier way back they were suppose to pick up 10 people from outside the Hilton Hotel......so when i got the phone call from a very cold Cato (From Norway Is Having A Party......) sayong he was still their i thought i better give the little fella a ring and see if they had got lost on their way to the pub!
No they hadn't......they just forgot.....luckily TJ (Sol Bamba lookalike) our driver, realised and went down to pick them up....some 30 mins late but still.....they got picked up didnt they!
We set off to the ground at 9.45am.... as a stupid RV point time had been put in place. Between 10 - 10.30am.....for a 12.15pm kick off time. Bloody stupid.
Its a weird place is Boro. Everyone seems so angry all the time. Dont get me wrong, if i lived there id be angry too, and considering they hadn't beaten us in the last 3 games and havent scored in that period too, i suppose i can forgive these very angry people.
Its the same starting line up that played Millwall 7 days earlier and won so hopes were high, even going to a team who sat top of the league and hadnt lost at home for some 4 months.
As the game kicks off we you can see we were going to sit deep and then counter on the break. Probably not a bad idea considering how well Boro had been playing.
But on 3 minutes Alex Mowatt popped up with a fine finish after a great ball pulled back from Lewis Cook.
Now. After this goal we dod have a lot of preasure put on our goal by Boro. They didnt have any ckear cut goal scoring chances, but lots of long range shots and brilliant saves from Silvestri ( whos partner Sofia drives to every away game on her own to support Marco and Leeds......id ask her to travel with us but..... wel Smithy would probably sexually assault her and we dont need any bad press do we! )
Dont get me wrong. we had some chances too. Wooton hit the bar just after the break, Austin hit a long range screamer which got tipped over the bar, and if we showed a bit of composure in the final 3rd we would of had a few more goal scoring oppertunities.
9 mins of injury time and they seemed longer than the first 90 mins!
Was a brilliant effort from the lads. And the fans (which is a given)
Upto 11th and a squad which has confidence and a togetherness, its an actual positive......which is a weird feeling putting Leeds Utd and Positive in the same sentance!
Special praise must go to Sol Bamba. Orchistraits the defense brilliantly and has brought Charlie Taylour on leaps and bounds. Plus the fact since he has come in we have lost only 1 game in 6...... hopefully we keep hold of him in the summer!
Brighton away on Tuesday (another local game on a tuesday night..... joke) but we can go there with alot of confidence. 3 points would be a brilliant especially with the long journey.
Hopefully see you all down there. Safe trip
